Now I love rhinestones and studs on my manicures as much as anybody else, but they can be a pain in the rear to apply. I got really excited when I saw these pencils. They are the size of a standard pencil, they come unsharpened, and they have a wax "lead" in them. This provides just enough stickiness to pick up these babies. This is the first tool (other than a toothpick or dotting tool dipped in clear polish) that I've used for applying rhinestones and I was pleased with the results. I sharpened the pencil, what you see in the above picture was about as sharp as I could get it. It just takes a teeny bit of pressure to pic up the stones. I did find that pressing the pencil on my hand before picking up stones made them stick a little better, I guess because it warmed the wax up just a teeny bit. I suppose you could probably use a crayon and get the same result... but this is harder than crayons, and it didn't leave residue on my stones. So I was happy.
So lets see more pictures of these pink rhinestones, shall we?
For this mani I applied 2 coats of Zoya Dahlia, adding the rhinestones while the 2nd coat was still tacky. I haven't seen many manis with textured polish and rhinestones, I want to do this again in the future and see how the combo wears together. I love the look for sure!
These are the 1.5 mm rhinestones, in the listing on the Born Pretty Store website (click here) they are color option #3. I love the brightness of the color and they applied easy as pie.
