Twinsie Tuesday, Favorite Indie Brand

Good morning friends! Happy Twinsie Tuesday!

Today's theme is near and dear to my heart, our favorite indie brand. For those of you that don't know, an indie polish is a handmade polish. These polishes are becoming more and more common, and there are a lot of fantastic ones on the market so picking a favorite wasn't easy. Especially since I swatch polishes for a few indie makers.

Then it came to me, the indie polish that started my serious crush on indies is Pipe Dream Polish Pink Elephants and Lemonade. So that has to be one of my top favorite indie brands.

Here you see 3 dreamy coats of Pink Elephants & Lemonade plus top coat. I haven't worn this one in a while, some of the glitter has floated to the outer edges of the bottle, but it still went on like a dream.

After I bought this polish and got it home and put it on I remember thinking "Oh my..... so THIS is what all the fuss is about!" And that is what started my love of indies. I purchased many of April's polishes and haven't received a bad one. Then last fall she asked me to do some swatching for her, it was like a dream come true! This polish is what made me really want to start swatching in the first place, and the woman who makes it asked me to swatch polish for her! That was an awesome moment for me. And I continue to be blown away by the fantastic Pipe Dream Polish formula and variety.

So, this is my favorite indie brand. There are many many others out there that are wonderful too, you should check them out if you haven'. I know a lot of people think indie's are too expensive, but they really aren't that much more than traditional salon brands. Especially when you figure in the fact that they are hand crafted. It's pretty awesome stuff.

I hope you all enjoyed this manicure! April has her shop (www.pipedreampolish.com)closed down for a few days while she works on getting her nail tech license (Go April! You got this!) but be sure to check out her store later this week for this polish and many others.

Be sure to head to the other Twinsie's blogs to read about their favorite indies!

Thanks for reading!

Sincerely Polish Shamrockin' Trio

**press sample**

Hi everyone! Sorry for the late post, but I have to share these with you and this was the first chance I've had to post it. :)

Tonight I have the Sincerely Polish Shamrockin' Trio!

First up, Teal My Luck Runs Out.

Here you see 3 coats of Teal My Luck Runs Out topped with 1 coat of Gelous and 1 coat of Glossy Glam by Just Ricarda.

Teal My Luck Runs Out is a white jelly base filled with various shapes and sizes of teal and mint glitters. Application on this was flawless, very little glitter placement and that was only on the larger glitters. LOVE it!

Next up is Don't Touch My Pot of Gold.

For this look I used 1 coat of Don't Touch My Pot of Gold over Zoya Josie, on my ring finger I dabbed 3 coats of Don't Touch My Pot of Gold on it's own. All nails were topped with 1 coat of Gelous and 1 coat of Glossy Glam.

Don't Touch My Pot of Gold is a clear base filled with every shape and size of gold glitter you can think of. So much sparkle! I posted a macro video of this baby on my Instagram, you should check it out! Application was easy and smooth!

Up last is Emerald Crush.

For this mani I used 1 coat of Emerald Crush over Zoya Neely, my ring finger got 3 dabbed coats of Emerald Crush. All nails were topped with 1 coat of Gelous and 1 coat of Glossy Glam.

Emerald Crush is a clear base packed with green glitters in every shape and size, including holographic green glitters and some holographic golds. So much awesome! Great application on this one too!

I love this collection and I can see myself pulling it out for more than just St. Patrick's Day.

You can purchase Sincerely Polish in their store here. Be sure to follow Karen Jo on Instagram for updates and sales!

Glossy Glam can be purchased in their store here.

Thanks for reading! Have a great night everyone!

Sincerely Polish Neon Jellies

**press sample**

Good morning everyone! Today I'm really excited to bring you an upcoming collection from the lovely Karen Jo at Sincerely Polish! This collection will be available for preorder 2/19-2/21 and the release date is set for 2/23. I can't wait to share these with you!

I'm going to save some time and tell you about the formula on all of these now. It is great. Sometimes with white jellies you get a bit of a gluey consistency, but not with these. They flowed smoothly and evenly, very little glitter placement was required. Mostly the only placing I had to do was just the arranging I wanted to do.

All of these manis are 3 coats with 1 coat of Gelous and 1 coat of Just Ricarda Glossy Glam. I can't say this enough, I'm loving adding Gelous to my glitter swatches and manicures. It gives your nails an extra layer of depth and squish without adding a lot of bulk to the nail. It packs a big bunch for a small amount of money. (speaking of which I need to head to Sally's soon and grab another bottle.... :) )

So, on to the polishes.

--------------------

First up, Beyond Supernova.

Beyond Supernova is full of hot pink stars, hexes, and small glitters. It's also got neon green large hexes and small glitters.

How much fun is this polish? For some reason it makes me think of Jem. (truly outrageous!)

--------------------

Next up, Neontastic Love.

Neontastic Love has hot pink hearts, large hexes, and squares. I love the mix in this one. It's light on the glitter, and I love it. I'm a sucker for white jelly polish with bright glitter, and pink. So naturally I love this!

--------------------

Next up is Electric Love Crush.

Electric Love Crush... what's not to love here? Pinks and blues in a white base? I'm sold. Look at that awesomeness! Pink Hearts, hexes, squares, and small hexes. Blue large squares. This is a really unique combo I think, and I love it.

--------------------

Last but not least, Digital Getdown.

Digital Getdown is packed with large neon green hexes and small neon green squares, and blue hexes in all shapes.

Overall I love this collection. I know a lot of indies have made white jellies with neon glitters, but I like this more than others I've tried. The consistency is smooth and doesn't get gluey. I highly recommend these if you like this look as much as I do.

I hope you like this post! I will have some more Sincerely Polish polishes for you very soon!

Until next time, Happy Wednesday!

Happy 2nd Anniversary Twinsie Tuesday!

Good morning everyone! Today I have a very special post for 2 special reasons. Firstly this is a special edition Twinsie Tuesday post (which is why it is on a Friday) because it marks the 2nd anniversary of the first Twinsie Tuesday! The second reason that this is a special post is that it is my 100th blog post!!! Can you believe it? I can't believe it. When I started this little blog back in July I wasn't sure what was going to happen. Since then I've become an official swatcher for a couple of wonderful indie polish brands, I've swatched several other indie brands, and I've been asked to join Twinsie Tuesday! I am so thankful for the friends that I've made through this little adventure and I am loving every minute of it. Plus my therapist says that I can not give up the polish thing because it's good for my mental health. Strict doctor's instructions here folks, so I'm not going anywhere. I'm getting closer and closer to 2000 followers on Instagram too, crazy that 2000 people want to see pictures of my nails and randomness.

Now on to today's post. For our special anniversary post the prompt was Inspired by Another Twinsie's First TT Mani. The Twinsies that we were to be inspired by were assigned and I got Marisa from Polish Obsession. Marisa was one of the original Twinsies, how cool is that? Their first theme was International Polish. Head over to see her original post here. Well, I only have one international polish (for now) and it is a lovely bottle of Glam Polish and Aussie brand that I'd been wanting to try for a while. My friend Sarah sent it to me as a gift last month and I hadn't tried it yet, so the timing was perfect. (Go check her out, she's got an awesome online store in the UK selling all kinds of nail charms and goodies, seriously cute stuff. And her Instagram, cutest cats ever and some awesome manis!)

Sarah and I share a serious love for all things Despicable Me. If you haven't seen the movies, you really need to watch them. They are adorable and funny with a nice moral to the story, just like any good cartoon should be. :) So when she went searching for a polish to send me as a sweet little gift she chose Glam Polish and a polish from their Despicable Me themed collection Mayhem & Madness.

This is So Fluffy I'm Gonna Die!!! More details and pictures after the jump! (including macros!)

Rain City Lacquer For Love Or Money Part 2

**press sample**

Good morning everyone! Today I have 2 more lovely polishes from the Rain City Lacquer For Love Or Money Collection.

Let's get right into it shall we?

First up is Sending Flowers.

Rica describes Sending Flowers as a mix of matte purple, lavender, pink, holo silver, and white hexes and circles in a clear base. There are also some pretty little purple stars hiding in there too. I wasn't able to get any on the nail, but they're in there. :)

For this mani I started with 2 coats of OPI Miss You-Niverse then added 2 coats of Sending Flowers and topped it with Glossy Glam.

I love this glitter, I'm a sucker for purple and when you mix in some holo I'm sold. The application on this one was great.

Quick tip for you, if you're using a glitter polish that has bigger pieces store it upside down for a little bit before you use it. It will bring those big glitters to the top so the brush will catch them easier. :)

Next up, Cold Heart Cash.

Rica describes Cold Heart Cash as a pale blue crelly base with mint, dark blue, green, and silver holo glitters in various shapes and sizes. See that green holo circle in the macro! So pretty!

This mani is 3 thin coats of Cold Heart Cash topped with Glossy Glam. In real life the base is a little bit bluer, but I just couldn't capture it. This was one of my instant favorites from the collection as soon as I opened it. I love me some jelly sandwiches in a bottle! The formula on this was great, the only placing I had to do was the placing I wanted to do... you know how I like to pick out big glitters and put them where I want them.

The Love Or Money Collection will be available for preorder this Thursday 01/09/14 at 7 pm PST on Rica's website here

What do you all think of these polishes? I am loving this collection, so much variety all packed in to one!

Thanks for reading! Stay tuned for 2 more Rain City Lacquers tomorrow morning!

Rain City Lacquer For Love Or Money, Part 1

**press sample**

Good morning friends! I hope you all had a good weekend. We are experiencing record cold here and had snow this weekend. I love cold and snow, but 2 degree high temp is a bit too cold even for me. Luckily we have a good furnace and I got a couple of pairs of warm fuzzy socks and a really warm fuzzy blanket for Christmas, so I'm all set. Saying a lot of prayers for those who aren't as fortunate as we are, hoping they find shelter through this intense cold.

Last week I got my first set of Rain City Lacquers. I was really excited when Rica contacted me to see if I would like to swatch her upcoming For Love Or Money Collection. I've been following Rain City for a while and am happy to get my hands on some of these.

This collection is very unique in that there are all different types of polish in it, I love that! The polish names all have a common theme, but there are a few different options going on in here for all tastes.

Today I'm going to show you Precious Gems and Rose Gold & Diamonds.

First up, Precious Gems.

Rica describes Designer Gems as a rainbow of holo hexes and circles in a clear base.

For this mani I did 2 coats of Essie The More The Merrier, added 2 coats of Designer Gems and then sealed it in with 1 coat of Glossy Glam.

This polish is really fun. There's a nice mix of colors and shapes in this one and it flowed nicely on the nail. I did do a little fishing and placement because I wanted specific glitters. The glitter layers nicely so you can see every layer. You know how I love to see that squish!

Next up is Rose Gold & Diamonds

Rica describes Rose Gold & Diamonds as holo hexes in pink and silver mixed with fine pink holo bar glitter in a clear base.

For this mani I started with 2 coats of OPI Planks A Lot then added 2/3 coats of Rose Gold & Diamonds and topped it with Glossy Glam.

I have to confess, I'm not much of a fan of bar glitter. These teeny hair sized bar glitters are a little better, but I'm just not a fan. It's purely my personal taste. As far as this polish goes, it's very pretty. It was a little on the watery side, and I had to do some placement to get the bigger glitters on the nail. But that can happen with this type of glitter polish, so I don't see it as a bad thing. And I love the color combo. The base looked a little cloudy in the bottle but on the nail it's clear as can be.

So far I'm impressed with this collection Rica has put out. The packaging is really cute, Rica hand writes the polish names on cloud shaped tags and attaches them to each bottle. I love the thought that goes into this, but I worry about losing those little tags! I'm gonna store them carefully so that I don't. :)

For Love Or Money will be available for pre-order this Thursday 01/09/14.

Rain City Lacquer can be purchased through Rica's website here. Be sure to follow Rain City on Instagram for updates on the release!

Glossy Glam topcoat can be purchased through their Etsy store here

I hope you all enjoyed these polishes! I can't wait to show you the rest of the collection throughout the week!

Talk to you soon!
