Born Pretty Store Review, 2mm Square Studs

Good evening everyone! Tonight I have a review of some Born Pretty Store Studs! 

For this mani I started with 3 coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. When the 3rd coat was still tacky, I added the studs. If you are doing this and your polish is totally dry, you can use a little dab of clear coat where you want to put the stud. Once I got them all placed I topped it with a coat of Just Ricarda's Glossy Glam. (buy yours here!)After that was dry I clipped the stud on my middle finger that extended over the edge. 

Overall I really like these studs. The thing that I didn't like is that they got all mixed together in the container. I guess that can't really be avoided with something like this... but it took all of my willpower and logical reasoning to not dump the whole thing and resort them. Having them mixed up made it even trickier to pick out studs, especially if I wanted a specific color.

Twinsie Tuesday, Gifted Polish

Good morning fellow polish lovers! Happy Tuesday! I'm so happy to be back to almost normal... hopefully I'll be posting regularly very soon. I'm feeling better, just sleepy and a little sore from surgery, but much better. So today's post will be short. (And I actually mean it this time.:))

For my gifted polish choice I picked a handmade "franken" polish that the lovely Elena from ecklipsedbycolor made for me. This was one of 2 colors that she was sweet enough to make for me for Christmas. I'm sad that I haven't had a chance to try it until now! 

This polish is called First Frost. There is a cute label on the front with the name, but I didn't get a pic of it. For those of you that don't know, a Franken polish is a polish that is made by mixing other polishes, glitters, and pigments to get just what you want. I don't know how Elena does it, although I suspect there is some sort of magic involved. 

I treasure all 3 of these polishes, even though I haven't been able to wear them much. It's amazing to think about Elena sitting in her home concocting polishes together until she comes up with something that makes her think of me. And they're one of a kind!

Twinsie Tuesday: Tip Nail Art

Today's prompt was Tip Nail Art. At first I thought classic French tips with some art on them... but then I remembered, glitter gradients. I think that counts and tip nail art and it suits me (and my little nubbin nails) much better.

Twinsie Tuesday: Go-To Polish

Good morning everyone! Happy Tuesday!

Today's Twinsie Tuesday prompt was our Go-To Polish. I had to really think about this one. I don't have that one polish that a lot of you probably have that is my go-to... Especially since I became a swatcher. I'm always painting my nails, so I don't get much of a break where I need that go-to option. So.... I started to think about what polish I love most, and the one that is my go-to for a lot of different looks. I would say that any polish that you have 5 backups of (yes, 5) probably fits that bill right? 

So here is my go-to, OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. 

Look at it! Just look at it!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you see why it's my favorite? It's white, without being WHITE. I just love it. For this look I used 3 thin coats of MBSW and topped it with Just Ricarda Glossy Glam. 

So, that's it. My somewhat boring pick for my "Go-To" polish! Why do I have 5 backups you ask? Well, because I'm a bit of a hoarder. (although if it's organized it's TECHNICALLY a collection) But mostly it's because OPI hasn't made this part of their core line that I've heard about... its from the Spider Man Collection a few years back. So whenever I find a bottle I grab it. And they're usually on sale so bonus!

Sincerely Polish Shamrockin' Trio

Hi everyone! Sorry for the late post, but I have to share these with you and this was the first chance I've had to post it. :) 

Tonight I have the Sincerely Polish Shamrockin' Trio!

First up, Teal My Luck Runs Out.

Here you see 3 coats of Teal My Luck Runs Out topped with 1 coat of Gelous and 1 coat of Glossy Glam by Just Ricarda. 

Teal My Luck Runs Out is a white jelly base filled with various shapes and sizes of teal and mint glitters. Application on this was flawless, very little glitter placement and that was only on the larger glitters. LOVE it!

Next up is Don't Touch My Pot of Gold.

For this look I used 1 coat of Don't Touch My Pot of Gold over Zoya Josie, on my ring finger I dabbed 3 coats of Don't Touch My Pot of Gold on it's own. All nails were topped with 1 coat of Gelous and 1 coat of Glossy Glam. 

Don't Touch My Pot of Gold is a clear base filled with every shape and size of gold glitter you can think of. So much sparkle! I posted a macro video of this baby on my Instagram, you should check it out! Application was easy and smooth!

Up last is Emerald Crush. 

For this mani I used 1 coat of Emerald Crush over Zoya Neely, my ring finger got 3 dabbed coats of Emerald Crush. All nails were topped with 1 coat of Gelous and 1 coat of Glossy Glam. 

Emerald Crush is a clear base packed with green glitters in every shape and size, including holographic green glitters and some holographic golds. So much awesome! Great application on this one too!

I love this collection and I can see myself pulling it out for more than just St. Patrick's Day.

Twinsie Tuesday Grunge Nails

Happy Tuesday everyone! I hope you're all having a great week so far! I'm feeling pretty worn down... without going into a ton of detail I'll just say that endometriosis SUCKS. :)   

So today's prompt is Grunge Nails. At first I thought I'd go with the distressed look that has been floating around the internet since the beautiful Sarah over at Chalkboard Nails posted them here. (go check it out, they're amazing!)

But, I wanted to add more to it. When I think of "grunge" I think of my teen years. Yes, I'm 33, I was a teen in the 90s... when grunge was at it's prime. I have never been (and probably never will be) fashionable, but I was mesmerized by the look when I was young. So I needed to add to that distressed look... acid wash jeans came to mind. A lot of people have done this look, so I got to browsing the web and found a great tutorial on Seriously Swatched here. 

This is what I came up with.

For this mani I used all Zoya polishes, except for my topcoats. 

I started with 1 coat of Zoya Blu. That isn't enough to get complete coverage, but you don't need complete coverage with either of these looks. I added a coat of Glossy Glam topcoat to this to get it nice and dry. Then on my pinky and pointer I added 1 coat of Sailor, 1 coat of Blu, 1 coat of Sailor and another coat of Blu. I then took a piece of a makeup sponge dipped in acetone and kinda "burned" little holes in it. (See Cordia's tutorial for better instructions... I'm not good at them at all!) After that I added a coat of Gelous. While it was still a little tacky I added some silver studs from Born Pretty... they kind of reminded me of button fly Levi's. Remember those? After I got those where I wanted them I added another coat of Glossy Glam and moved on to my distressed nails. 

For these nails I used Yana, Josie, and Neve on top of Blu. I followed Sarah's tutorial here. For a first try I don't think I did too bad, and I'm glad I used Neve instead of black... it pulled it together without making it too dark. 

Mike says that these aren't very "grunge", his idea was I should just paint them black. But I think this was maybe a more colorful take on grunge. After all, I don't remember it being all dark and dingy... ;)

Sincerely Polish Toxic Seduction Collection

Good morning polish friends! I hope you're all having a good week. I'm happy it Friday, that is all I have to say about it. :) 

Today I have a new collection from Sincerely Polish for you. This collection is going to be released tomorrow, 3/1. It is inspired by Karen's love of Britney Spears. More pics and details after the jump! 

Sincerely Polish Neon Jellies

Good morning everyone! Today I'm really excited to bring you an upcoming collection from the lovely Karen Jo at Sincerely Polish! This collection will be available for preorder 2/19-2/21 and the release date is set for 2/23. I can't wait to share these with you! 

 I'm going to save some time and tell you about the formula on all of these now. It is great. Sometimes with white jellies you get a bit of a gluey consistency, but not with these. They flowed smoothly and evenly, very little glitter placement was required. Mostly the only placing I had to do was just the arranging I wanted to do. 

All of these manis are 3 coats with 1 coat of Gelous and 1 coat of Just Ricarda Glossy Glam. I can't say this enough, I'm loving adding Gelous to my glitter swatches and manicures. It gives your nails an extra layer of depth and squish without adding a lot of bulk to the nail. It packs a big bunch for a small amount of money. (speaking of which I need to head to Sally's soon and grab another bottle.... :) )

So, on to the polishes.

First up, Beyond Supernova.

Beyond Supernova is full of hot pink stars, hexes, and small glitters. It's also got neon green large hexes and small glitters. 

How much fun is this polish? For some reason it makes me think of Jem. (truly outrageous!)

Next up, Neontastic Love.

Neontastic Love has hot pink hearts, large hexes, and squares. I love the mix in this one. It's light on the glitter, and I love it. I'm a sucker for white jelly polish with bright glitter, and pink. So naturally I love this!

Next up is Electric Love Crush.

Electric Love Crush... what's not to love here? Pinks and blues in a white base? I'm sold. Look at that awesomeness! Pink Hearts, hexes, squares, and small hexes. Blue large squares. This is a really unique combo I think, and I love it.

Last but not least, Digital Getdown.

Digital Getdown is packed with large neon green hexes and small neon green squares, and blue hexes in all shapes. 

Overall I love this collection. I know a lot of indies have made white jellies with neon glitters, but I like this more than others I've tried. The consistency is smooth and doesn't get gluey. I highly recommend these if you like this look as much as I do.

Good morning everyone! Happy Monday! Did everyone have a good weekend? We did, got to spend some fun time at the park with the dog and some good friends, followed by yummy food with the same friends, then the rest of the weekend was pretty lazy. Except for my swatchathon Sunday. Seems to be a regular thing for me these days. I love it. :) 

Today I have some new polishes by Royal Polish, 1 of her lovely jelly polishes and some of her super glittery Glitter Grenades!

Happy Sunday night everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. I've got a bit of the Sunday blues, but that's normal. Ready to get back to work tomorrow. Royal Polish Tidal Glow & Please Kelp Me!

Good morning everyone! Happy Thursday! It is Thursday right? Last week I went through 3/4 of the day Wednesday before I realized that is wasn't Thursday. Don't you hate it when that happens? 

So, today I have 2 more polishes from the Royal Polish Sea Dreams Collection for you to enjoy. I really love this collection folks, I hope my pictures do it justice! 

First up is Tidal Glow.

Tidal Glow is a blue polish packed with all different colors of flakies, a whole rainbow of them. 

Oh my goodness this polish.... it's like a bright blue opal on your fingers. I think out of all 6 it is my very favorite. For this mani I used 3 coats of Tidal Glow and added 1 coat of Glossy Glam. Application was smooth and the flakies are evenly and densely packed. LOVE. 

Next up is Please Kelp Me!

Please Kelp Me! is available in 2 formulas, either a clear base or a shimmery green base. I went with the green base, because I really do love polishes that build on their own. Its got a gorgeous shimmery green base, filled with green and gold hex glitters. 

For this mani I used 3 coats of Please Kelp Me! and topped it with 1 coat of Glossy Glam. The formula on this polish was really great too. Honestly Violet is doing such a fantastic job on her formulas and colors. I don't have anything bad to say about any of these! I'm thinking this one will be AMAZING for St. Patricks Day.
